Hi I’m Liam Connor,
Clinical Psychologist
Cairns, Australia.
About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist based in Cairns, Australia. I have worked in a range of settings including hospitals, government, private practice and provided supervision to trainee psychologists. I have a particular interest in trauma and have worked extensively with the veteran population.
I believe therapy is an investment in one’s own mental health and that it can be a deeply rewarding experience. Being able to put difficult thoughts and experiences into words in a safe space with a therapist can help promote deeper insight into one’s self, relationships and problems.
My approach to psychotherapy is based on assessing the needs, goals and history of each patient. Good therapy takes time and is centred around the ‘therapeutic relationship’. Everyone’s experience of therapy is unique and so is the relationship with their therapist.
I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), psychodynamic psychotherapy and integrate elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) into my work.
I am available to see patients privately or with a GP referred Mental Health Care Plan. I do not provide services under WorkCover or where a claim under WorkCover may arise.
